Name that Full Moon! Find Yours By Month and By Sign!

 

Did you know every full Moon has a name? Of course we’ve all heard of Harvest Moons and Hunter’s Moons. But cultures all around the world have assigned names to every full Moon no matter what sign they appear in. Of course, the seasons and names are different if you live in the Southern Hemisphere but here are the full Moons and what they are known as. Remember – if the Sun is in a particular sign then the full Moon that month will occur in the opposite sign! So, Sun and new Moon in Capricorn – full Moon in Cancer. Sun and new Moon in Taurus – full Moon in Scorpio – and so on.

Did you know that approximately once every 19 -20 years, February has no full moon at all?

Moreover, in 7 out of every 19 years, two full moons will fall in the same calendar month. The second of the month’s two full moons is popularly referred to as a Blue Moon. The next Blue Moon will happen on July 31, 2015 – this is why we say ‘Once in a Blue Moon’ – as they are relatively rare!
