We begin the year in Capricorn weather. A massive five planet Capricorn stellium with the Sun, Mercury (Jan 1), Venus and Mars. Venus will exit on the 17^th – a day ahead of the Capricorn new moon which bumps the number back up to five.

Our focus is on our need to achieve our worldly ambitions vs. our emotional needs as this puts the focus on the Capricorn/Cancer axis. The 10^th and 4^th houses. As the Sun and the other planets move through Capricorn – they will oppose Jupiter in Cancer. We’ll stop and ask ourselves just what is real success if it doesn’t truly satisfy our emotional needs and sustain us? If we have no-one to share it with – or no time to enjoy the rewards it can bring us, it turns into an empty victory.

This year is remarkable in many ways. It opens and closes with a flourish with supermoons in the sign of Cancer which act as bookends for all the changes ahead. The first appears on Jan 3. The second at the end of December. The January supermoon will oppose Mars in Capricorn. Asking us to look at boundaries to protect what is sacred to us. And which keep us safe. And when it comes to what we are setting out to succeed at or attain – how this adds to or enhances the above.

Some of us may be already looking at rewards, breakthroughs and opportunities arriving early in the new year thanks to the planetary activity in Capricorn. And this also applies to our personal ambitions. Including love as Venus and Mars become the ultimate power couple in Capricorn on the 8^th. Across the 9^th – 14^th, oppositions between Capricorn planets and Jupiter in Cancer show us whether or not we are on the right path or even in the right place. Rewards and recognition could be within reach for many of us. While for others, doors to new opportunities swing wide open. If we need to change direction, move or if despite all our efforts, we haven’t received what we hoped for, then these aspects allow us to smoothly pivot and explore alternatives.

A sense of perfect timing hangs over the Capricorn new moon (18^th). Unlike the supermoon’s opposition to Mars, the new moon conjuncts it. Creating a fuel injection of intentionality and action which can sustain us as we go after that long term goal or ambition. This is the moment which says: Now! Happy birthday to the sign of community spirit and authenticity – Aquarius. Venus arrives in your sign on the 17^th. Ahead of both the Sun and Mercury on the 20^th. You will continue with your long term process of transformation with Pluto now in your sign until 2043. The year ahead of you promises to be the most surprising, electrifying and loved up you have ever experienced. When it comes to partnerships – both Jupiter and destiny takes a hand as Jupiter arrives in Leo and your 7^th mid-year. And the Nodes change from Pisces and your 2^nd and Virgo and your 8^th to your 1^st and 7^th houses.

Also ahead – ruler Uranus’s re-entry into Gemini. Truth, freedom, beauty, love – and a total shake up of how you communicate and get around. Expect surprises, the unexpected and even sometimes the shocking. But you of all signs knows that if something doesn’t work out the way you imagined – this is because there’s something radically, remarkably and unimaginably better awaiting you.

Neptune closes off Remarkable January as it returns to Aries on Jan 26 and will now remain in here until 2039. How we look, appear, see ourselves, our image, avatar, look, appearance, style, message or brand could become more filtered, defused and permeable. Who we believe we are, the image we want to create or share, is this the real ‘us’ – or an illusion? We can be whoever we see ourselves being. But this also means that the outer image may not be the real thing. Saturn is not far behind and this is the planet which insists we know who we are. On the upside, Neptune in Aries turns us into visionary warriors for inspiration, empathy and spiritual truth. Yes, we can be all we imagine we can be. Own your identity.

In a nutshell: There’s no point in aiming high if you haven’t created a foundation to support you. The start of January asks us to take care of the business of creating that.
