The Sun in astrology is where you shine. Literally. The sign the Sun is in on the day you were born is showing you your path, your purpose and the area of life where You Got This. Nothing tops the Sun in importance. That is simply because everything in our solar system revolves around it. You, me, the Earth, the asteroids and all the other planets. Without the Sun we wouldn’t exist.
Work your Sun Sign

This puts her Sun in Capricorn. Capricorn rules sustained effort, the establishment, commitment to the long term and also how high can you climb. It’s the 10th house of the zodiac. The highest point in our charts.
The 10th house also traditionally rules our partner’s status too. And what they can achieve. It’s also a very ‘public’ house. Where reputation is everything. If you have a Capricorn Sun and want to ‘work’ it, Michelle Obama is a perfect role model to follow. She attended Princeton University and then Harvard Law School. Serious, established Ivy League universities. Upon graduating she went to work for a Chicago law firm where she met her husband.
Interesting Astro Fact: Barack Obama has his natal Saturn in its ruling sign of Capricorn. It is within two degrees of Michelle’s natal Sun. So, while Barack Obama is a Leo, with the ruler of the 10th in its ruling sign, we can say these two share many Capricorn traits. Leo is also the ‘royal’ or ‘ruling’ sign. So, you have the makings of a power couple.
In for the long haul
Capricorn knows there are no short cuts to success. It does however have a goal (the mountain top) in mind. And it will keep going until it gets there. Working a Capricorn Sun means deferred gratification for big rewards later. You can see how this has played out in Michelle Obama’s life. Beginning with long term study in an established profession and commitments to her own career, her husband’s, her family and embracing the best Capricorn ideals, to empowering others, especially women.
Working her Sun did not happen overnight. We can say, she grew in to it. Learning as she went. But the result was she climbed as high as she possibly could becoming the first African American First Lady. And a success in her own right.
